Animals Chain game

This game was created with the objective of providing some extra scaffolding to students who are learning English as a foreign language. This activity works well when everybody participates, so students learn that they all need to do their part in order to finish the activity. If we want students to be able to speak a non-native language, they need two very important ingredients: vocabulary and structures. Even if they are not able to read much, by repeating over and over the same structure, they will end up acquiring it and it will help them to express themselves in a freer way in the future.

This material consists of 24 cards with animal descriptions, British and American version. It can be played in a variety of ways: as a whole group, in a small group, or in pairs. If you prefer, you can ask all your students to stand and each ofthem can sit after reading their card. The first card is the one with the green light and the last is the one with the red light. If you have more cards than students you can keep some for yourself or give an extra card to a few students. If there are still students who are standing at the end of the game, it is a sign that someone made a mistake when reading.

You can use it for personal and classroom use, but you can’t alter its content or share it with others.
